About IBEW 1253

Who we are

IBEW Local Union 1253 was chartered in Augusta, ME in 1946.  Since that day, we’ve been striving to enhance the lives of the men and women working in the field of electrical construction.  We offer highly skilled craftspeople who are comfortable working in Industrial, Commercial, or Residential settings. Our signatory contractors have immediate access to top-shelf help for as long as they need it.

Nick Paquet
Director of Business Development

Nick has been a member of IBEW 1253 since 1999 and is the acting President of the local.  Nick is charged with building the size and strength of Local 1253. If you want to join the best paid and most talented work force in the electrical industry, or you’re interested in employing a trained and capable workforce to handle any job you’re bidding on with less hassle, get in touch with him.

Clara joined our Administrative Staff in April 2014. She has 20 plus years in the Administrative field and holds a BS in Business Administration from Thomas College. She will be happy to assist you with any of your inquiries.

George Howe
Director of
Augusta Electrical JATC

George, as of January 2019, joined our office as Director of the Augusta Electrical JATC. He is in charge of all training programs for Local IBEW 1253, with over 250 electricians and apprentices. If you have questions about our Apprenticeship Program or ongoing Journeyman training, George would love to hear from you.

Cara Flannery
Outreach & Pre-Apprenticeship Program Coordinator

Cara joined our office in July of 2022. She previously worked in public education for 11 years as a teacher and community outreach coordinator then took her own advice by pursuing a career within the trades. If you'd like assistance in navigating our apprenticeship program or pre-apprenticeship opportunities, Cara is here to help you.
