Local Union 1253 was Chartered  October 1, 1946, in Augusta, Maine.  On January 1, 1976, Local Union 1334 located in Bangor and Local Union 222 located in Bar Harbor were merged into Local Union 1253.  Over the years we have seen good times and bad.  The benefits you will read about on this site were won by the hard work of those Unionists who preceded us.  To be able to improve upon and pass these benefits on to the next generation will require the same dedication and hard work from all of us.  As a Construction Electrician or Teledata Tech and member of Local Union 1253 you will receive the best pay and benefits available to electricians in our jurisdiction.

We are in a highly competitive business and everyday Union contractors bid for work against contractors that pay lower wages and few, if any, fringe benefits.  We must always strive to increase our knowledge and professionalism.

It all really boils down to this:

When we, as Union electricians, are the best that we can be,
we are unbeatable.
